Printing press made from a chest of drawers
Materials: Ikea Kullen chest, wood, steel pipe
Description: I used a small chest of drawers to build a printing press.
Essentially it works like this. A printing press works by pushing a sheet of paper onto an engraved printing plate, so that the ink sticks to the paper. The engraved printing plate is attached to the inside back of the chest, and the paper is attached to the back of one of the drawers. You close the drawer until it hits the back of the chest, and it prints.
Of course, good quality printing requires a lot more force than the cabinet can withstand on its own, so I heavily reinforced the cabinet with wood, and added a steel pipe frame for better pressing leverage.
There is a full description, with lots of pictures, on my website.
