Air balloon ceiling light for less than 10,00 Euro
Materials: Regolit, white rattan basket, ribbons, glue gun
Description: Three years ago while decorating my son's bedroom I desperately searched for an air balloon ceiling light. Everything I found was too expensive for my budget and so I decided to make one myself using Regolit (lattern), a white rattan basket (also bought from IKEA)and lots of ribbons.
I glued the ribbons with glue gun. I also made the sacks that are hanging with the fabric I had left over from the curtains (also from IKEA)...So I guess my ceiling light is 100% IKEA hack! And it only cost me approximately 10,00 Euro...not bad at all!!!

Old salt lamp
Materials: Regolit, fishing rod
Description: Usually Regolit is a lamp for ceilings. Conversely I attached it at a fishing rod, using its own electric cable as the fishing line, to create the effect of a beautiful marine lamp.
I fixed the fishing rod to the ceiling using a little nail and a piece of wire, then I fixed it to the wall using an hanging nail and a champagne cap wire. Note that it is strictly important to put a visible cable from the wall to the middle of the fishing rod: It is useless at all as weight holder, but it is fundamental for human eye, without it you will not see a fishing rod bringing a lamp but a ceiling bringing a lamp and a fishing rod, incredible but true!!!!

Pokeball Regolit Pinata
Materials: REGOLIT shade, crepe paper, glue gun
Description: Every year I craft with my son a pinata for his birthday, and this year he's obsessed with Pokemon and asked for a Pokeball-shaped one. After trying (and failing) with a papier-mach covered beach ball, I used a ready made and supercheap Regolit lampshade (1,99 ) and some crepe paper.
The result was a huge pokeball which the children loved, and it even came with a metal structure great for hanging it.
Materials:
1x Regolit shade (1,99 here in Spanish IKEA)
5x rolls of crepe paper (1 black, 2 red, 2 white)
Glue gun
Pinata goodies
Step-by-step:
1. Unfold and mount Regolit shade. Cover the bottom with a bit of paper or tissue and some glue. Keep the top open.
2. Cut crepe paper in small squares (about 5x5 cm) and twist them pinching the centre (like small flowers)
3. Glue small paper bits to Regolit shade, following the Pokeball pattern.
4. Fill with usual piata stuff.
5. Hang and use.
Total cost (without goodies) = 7 (and about 3 hours!)

Sandwich paper Regolit lamp
Materials: Regolit shade, hot glue, sandwich paper
Description: As many other hackers before me, I wanted to turn my cheap but boring Regolit shade into something special (and if my idea comes close to some other hack, that did not happen willfully!).
How to:
I took randomly dragged pieces of sandwich papers, crumbled them and glued them onto the shade. It was only about one and a half hours but I love it every day!

Glowing Flower
Materials: IKEA Regolit Lamp, small and big paper muffin liners,a pair of scissors, glue
Description: I was a little bit bored by our Regolit Lamp, so I changed it a little bit.
First you have to cut the sides until the bottom of the Paper Muffin Liners.
After this you have to turn the paper muffin liners inside out and glue some of the smaller paper muffin liners into the bigger one.
Then you just have to glue the paper muffin liners on the REGOLIT lamp - DONE :)
I love it and it reminds me on a dandelion seed head...

Coffee haters Zorb lampshade
Materials: Regolit
Description: Instead of gluing on coffee filters, I sewed on muffin cases.
I used a running stitch around the support canes, quite loose. The muffin cases were scrunched up a bit, and I tried to avoid being precise.
The only tricky bit was that I had to wear a t-shirt to avoid getting my arm stuck/ sewn inside the shade.
It took about 400 muffin cases and about 4 hours.

Zorb Light
Materials: Regolit Pendant
Description: Previously we had coffee filters on a Melodi lamp shade. Now, here is one on the paper shade, Regolit, by Jane from Modern Jane. Love the giant orb. Even better when illuminated.

Muffin liner light
Materials: Regolit
Description: Beate tipped me on this muffin liner lamp she stumbled upon in Youtube. It's easy to do, and most will get it though the instructions are not in English. From far, the hacked Regolit looks like a giant golf ball. The hack ends at around 3.30 min. After that he shows you how to moisturize your lips with honey. Strange combo in one vid.
Then, on the sidebar I found a less windy one.

Sakura lamp
Materials: IKEA Regolit Pendant Lamp, Mla brushes and water paint
Description: I needed a cheap lamp shade for my entrance. The style of my apartment is Japanese and I searched the internet and found one with painted cherry blossoms. But alas, it was way out of my budget. So I got a Regolit lamp from Ikea along with Mla water color and brushes from the kids' department.
I painted some branches and glued cherry blossoms on them when the paint was dry.
It looks perfect now and I simply love it.

Lovely snowball light!
Materials: Ikea paper lantern (Regolit)
Description: I stole this idea from somewhere (can't remember where) so I won't take credit for it!
I had however bought the coffee filters months prior, knowing I would find some crafty use for them eventually. So you could say I willed this into existence. Right?
Anyway, this is easy as pie and cheap too.
You gently scrunch up the bottoms of the coffee filters so there they're pretty wrinkled but the "skirts" are still quite neat. Dab glue dots with your gun all over the bottom, mostly along the edges - you won't need much and don't have to be too precise " and just place the glue-dotted bottom on the lantern shade, one by one until you've covered it all.
It doesn't require too much patience or precision, it's probably going to come out looking pretty no matter what.

A Lill Creepy Halloween Party
Materials: Lill, Vate, Regolit
Description: I was looking for inexpensive, cool Halloween decorations for a party. Thus Ikea! I was working with a gym here, so not that attractive. I tied some twine across the basketball hoops to drape things across.
To create some creepy cloth I took three Lill curtains (which come in pairs) and cut them horizontally. Then I snipped them at the bottom and torn them upward and jabbed a pair of scissors in a few times to create jagged holes. I stitched the panels together because I needed them to span about 36 feet.
Next I took the Regolit and Vate paper lanterns and turned them into Jack O' Lanterns. The Vate was a steal in the 'As Is' section for only $1.50! I spray painted them with orange and let them hang to dry.
Then I painted the faces on the lanterns with black acrylic paint. I hung the lanterns and strung the 'creepy cloth' along with some white lights for class :) and ta-da!
Entire project: $36...not bad!

Regolit lamp - with Ligne Roset head
Materials: Ikea Regolit lamp, Ligne Roset Bloom lamp
Description: I felt in love with the Ligne Roset Bloom floor lamp, but I had two problems with it. First of all, the original one was smaller than I needed. The other problem was the high price. So I simple reduced the price of the third with this Ikea hack.
I bought an Ikea Regolit lamp, and a Bloom ceiling light (which is much cheaper than the floor version). I cut the Regolit's light bulb part, and attached the Bloom's "head" to it. We just love our new design lamp! :)

Hundreds and Thousands Regolit lamp
Materials: REGOLIT lamp shade & HEMMA cord set, translucent paper, wallpaper paste
Description: 1. Mix a small bowl of wallpaper paste, you won't need much.
2. Cut out circles in different sizes from the translucent paper.
3. Plaster the lamp with circles, alternating colors and sizes. I created a gradient effect, using less circles towards the bottom of the shade.
4. Let it dry. Hang it up.

Hot air balloon Regolit
Materials: Regolit, paint, box, string, fabric scraps.
Description: We got some Regolit light shades and have been decorating them to suit our style. We did a hot air balloon for the spare bedroom, this was inspired by something my Dad had seen once but unfortunately he doesn't remember where!
This was painted with water colours following the lines of the Regolit paper and a small basket found in the back of a cupboard was attached with some string (dyed in tea) and little sandbags (made from scraps of material) were attached to achieve the hot air balloon look.

My cherry blossom lantern, inspired by Joey
Materials: Regolit lamp
Description: When I saw Joey's cherry blossom lantern, I immediately fell in love with it. Since I already had two Regolit lamps at home, I decided to make my own cherry blossom lanterns.
I liked Joey's a lot, but I was looking for a more delicate appearance, I wanted the flowers to look like real cherry blossoms and I found some soft pink faux cherry blossoms at the local DIY market. I needed two branches for one lamp, one branch for 1,49 . Thanks Joey for the great inspiration!

Ikea Regolit night light
Materials: Regolit
Description: On the smaller Regolit lamp shade, the 11-inch one, I wanted to make it into a night light but having it as a white shade filtered out too much light. I wanted a BOJA effect to it so I painted it with Acrylic Black paint. And then punched some holes on them in a pattern. I have a friend who is so mathematically precise with a pen. I then took a old night light base and placed it inside. The patterns look really nice against a white wall.
