Oh my deer!
Materials: Ung Drill, deer heat, wallpaper, spray paint, oval wooden plate
Description: Make a contemporary deer.
You don't need the glass and background of the Ung drill.
I spray painted the Ung Drill. And made a new background out of plywood. Because the cardboard is not strong enough to hold the deer head.
Glue the wallpaper on the plywood place in the frame and mount the deer head on the plywood. And it's finished.

Drunken Chevron-y Cork Hack
Materials: Ung Drill Frame
Description: I got an Ung Drill frame for my birthday last year and it sat around for MONTHS. I kept thinking to myself "What the heck am I gonna do with this?" Half a year of dreaming and scheming went by before I decided to frame a giant-sized photo from my brother's Jamaican wedding...
Which didn't work at all because the frame was OVAL. The frame is beautiful but framing images is a challenge, so I decided to create a cork board instead.
Step 1: Gather corks. Usually any wine bar will give you leftover corks for free. All you have to do is ask!
Step 2: Remove the glass (or in my case, break it into pieces) and cut a piece of foam core to fit behind the cardboard oval.
Step 3: Prime & Paint the frame with spray paint. Don't sand the frame at all before painting. Simply use paint that says it "adheres to plastic."
Step 4. Put the cardboard oval where the glass used to be. cut a foam core oval to fit behind it and secure in frame. Lay out your pattern. This part will be the most difficult if you use an oval frame because nothing will fit EXACTLY. Overestimate the corks needed in the layout.
Step 5: Glue corks in pattern with hot glue gun. The cardboard will disguise where the corks don't cover.
Let dry for a day before hanging and pining items.

Golden Baroque Ung Drill
Materials: Ung Drill, Liquid Leaf classic gold, Daler-Rowner GoldFinger metallic paste
Description: Next to my organ I wanted to put up a picture of my family members' silhoutte. I purchased an Ung Drill frame.
I sprayed painted it with white acrylic primer. Following that I brushed on a a layer of Liquid Leaf classic gold paint.
I removed the glass from the frame. I cut out a sheet of painting canvas and glued it to the backing corrugated paper.
Using Adobe Photoshop, I printed silhouttes of member of my family on A4 pieces of paper.
I stapled a few sheets of A4 paper under the printed silhouettes. With a craft knife I cut out the silhouttes, creating multiples of stencils.
I painted the background colours on the canvas sheet. After which, using the stencils and together with Daler-Rowner GoldFinger metallic paste, I rubbed on the gold paint into the stencils.

Ung Drill Earring Display
Materials: Ung Drill frame, tulle, needle and thread
Description: This is my first Ikea hack that I wanted to publish and I'm very excited about it.
I wanted something fancy to store my tons of earrings, and it would have to fit into my old fashionde, viennese pseudo baroque room. I thought the Ung Drill was just perfect for this purpose!
First I removed the cardboard from the back, then I wrapped the tulle fabric around the glass inlay and sewed the whole thing together in the front, so that the the leftovers from the fabric would resemble a "rose" at the front. The fabric around it has now a lot of crinkles to stick in earrings or other jewellery.
Then I put the whole thing back into the frame and voila - my new earring display was finished. The whole process took me about 20 minutes and was dead easy, and I'm quite happy with the result. Hope you like it!
